Blue Class

Start of Term 1 (2017 - 2018)

This term, Blue Class are learning about the different materials which make up the world we live in. There will be many Science investigations to develop the children's understanding of materials and we will be reading some inspiring books such as 'George's Marvellous Medicine' by Roald Dahl and 'Iron Man' by Ted Hughes to inspire our writing. Our Maths learning will be around understanding number, capacity and shape with lots of opportunities for hands on learning.

End of Term 1 (2017 - 2018)

What a brilliant first term in Blue Class! We have made our own lumpacious liquids, created 3d Iron Man models, discovered about dissolving and done lots of amazing Maths work on measuring, place value and the four operations. We have also done a lot of thinking about what we like and don't like and how to treat other people and possessions with respect.

The class have had an amazing start to their time at Pegasus and we're very proud of them all.

Next term we will be continuing with our 'What's it made of?' topic to discover more about the properties of materials and different ways they change.

End of Term 2 (2017 - 2018)

In Term 3, Blue Class will be investigating why and where castles were built. We will discover what the Norman conquest was and learn about how lives changed because of it. We will be doing lots of Design and Technology to build replicas and we hope to do our first school trip to Berkley Castle.

In English we will write recounts, explanation texts and instructions and in Maths we will be focussing on decimals, percentages and fractions, as well as the four operations.

End of Term 3 (2017 - 2018)

What a fantastically busy term we've had. We have constructed a class castle, made Norman shield and helmets, examined historical primary sources, been on our first school trip and visited the brilliant Mojo Active!
As the pupils are enjoying our castles topic so much, we will continue with it for a few weeks after half term. We will then move on to a mini RE topic where we will learn about the main world religions. We will be writing stories and explanation texts. In Maths next term we will be focussing on money and shape, so I'm sure pupils would love the change to practise spending money and getting change!

End of Term 4 (2017 - 2018)

Another busy term in Blue class. We have been reading adventure stories and legends and created one of our very own. We have done lots of mini topics and experiments in Science to practice our scientific skills and have built trebuchets in Design Technology with help from Mr Lovell.

Next term we will be building on pupils' enthusiasm and discovering more about Space. We will find out lots of fascinating facts, explore how the solar system was created and what it looks like today and use the beauty of the universe to inspire us to get    creative. We will also be having a Science week with lots of experiments to carry out.

End of Term 5 (2017 - 2018)

This term we have been busy learning about Space and how humans have discovered our solar system. We have had some brilliant lessons this term including learning about the moon's phases, making a scale model of the solar system, planning an experiment to go into space, creating imaginative aliens and story boxes.  We have also loved our trips out from school to visit Mojo and the Aerospace museum.

Next term our new topic is 'Exploration and Adventure', where we will discover more about extreme landscapes and how people discovered and settled in new places in the past. We will develop our skills in map reading and explore cultures from around the world and compare them to our own. At the end of the topic, we will even plan our own adventure.
